Overalls: they aren’t just for five year olds.
If you asked me a few years ago if I was into wearing overalls, my answer would have included some serious side eye. That’s the thing about my style, though: it’s always evolving. As I’ve gotten older and been exposed to more brands, people, and places, I’ve been pulled out of my comfort zone and have started trying looks I never would have thought twice about before. Suddenly, I became someone who could “pull that off”. The idea that trying new things is fun, as opposed to scary, has been a great lesson for me that has transcended into other areas of my life. Look at clothes, teaching me all about life and stuff!
Back to the overalls. I’m not sure when it happened, but one day I looked in my closet and realized I had collected quite a few pairs, all in varying styles. This inspired me to share the way I style each pair; there are so many options!
Here’s a few of my favorite looks, from casual and comfy to a little more glam. Enjoy!
I found this awesome pair of overalls, sans front, from Melrose Trading Post. The brand is Dollhouse, and I love that it leaves some room to show off a graphic tee or fun print. The tank I’m wearing is from The Laundry Room (def check this website out if you want a good graphic tee) and is always my current #mood.
2. Cotton Material:
This pair of orange tinted overalls is Billabong brand, and I actually found them after digging through a Stylist LA Sample Sale. Such a come-up! These are super soft, comfortable, and I love the fact that the sides are open to create a super relaxed vibe. The sunnies are from Show Me Your Mumu aka the best boutique on Abbot Kinney in Venice.
3. Denim or Nah?:
These off-white overalls are from Aritzia (on sale now!), and I love the fact that you can’t really tell if they are denim or not (they are not). They are also a soft, stretchy material and the color makes it so they can go with just about anything. I like the idea of pairing these with a chunky, off the shoulder sweater, just to add a little uniqueness to the look. Overalls may be considered summer-wear, but I would wear this outfit in the fall, too.
4. Overall Dress:
This pair of “overalls” from Hidden Jeans are my absolute favorite. They are so on-trend right now with the denim mini-skirt aspect. Sidenote: the early 2000’s are back, ya’ll! I’m obsessed with the structured fit and the ripped denim detail. Basically, I would wear this everyday.
