In an effort to be more *personal* with my readers, I wanted to share 10 random facts about myself. I always enjoy reading about the bloggers I follow, and I think getting to know each other beyond the pictures is what makes all of this so fun and interesting. Who knows – maybe you will read this and have a “me too” moment – if so, let me know and let’s be friends! 🙂
In no particular order, here are some tidbits about me…
1. I’m an Auntie!
I have one niece and one nephew and they mean the world to me. William is four and Brittney is almost three (yes, they are so close in age!). Nothing has ever been more exciting to me than being their aunt. They are just the cutest little things, and I love watching them grow up. It’s been such an amazing experience being there the day they were born until today, where they are walking, talking beings with their own unique personalities. They call me Auntie Kay – and it’s the sweetest thing ever! In summation: I am OBSESSED with them!
2. I learned to smize with tyra…in person
While I was attending FIDM’s Beauty Marketing program, I got the opportunity to be a social media and marketing intern for Tyra Banks (through her company, Tyra Beauty)! If you’re thinking “how did you not freak out?!”, that is a very accurate question. It was honestly surreal; I grew up watching America’s Next Top Model religiously and getting to meet Tyra and work with her team was a dream come true. I also got to be in a little YouTube promo video with her and she referred to me as Intern of the Year! LIFE MADE. #whenyouhaveavideoofyourselfnexttotyrabanks
3. red white and blue
Both of my brothers are United States Marines and I grew up in a very patriotic family. I am so grateful I was raised to understand the importance of loving my country and supporting our troops. It has become such a defining characteristic for me and I am so proud of my brothers, especially after witnessing everything they have gone through first hand. One of my goals is to volunteer more with veterans.
4. no to knees
An odd phobia of mine is knees! It’s so weird but I want to throw up whenever someone touches my knees or talks about them. I have shivers running through me just typing this.
5. Meet Krayla
When I’m not being referred to as “Auntie Kay”, my other nickname is Krayla. I have a group of friends who strictly call me that, or Kray, for short. I’ll keep the stories to myself as to why, but we can thank college for that one.
6. Products I Can’t Live Without
If I had to pick two: Makeup remover wipes and self tanner. Okay and lip gloss. I don’t leave the house without at least five different lip shades in my purse.
7. Confessions of a Shopaholic
I am a self- diagnosed shopaholic, but the good thing is that I can admit it, right? On the real, sometimes I purposefully avoid going to malls or shopping areas, because it’s nearly impossible for me to walk away without purchasing something. My wallet hates me. I try to strictly buy things I really need or really love, as opposed to buying just to buy, but it’s a work in progress.
8. The Bay – > LA
I’m from Petaluma, CA, which is located in Sonoma County. This is considered North Bay Area and is about 45 minutes north of San Francisco. My town wasn’t affected by the Sonoma County fires that happened back in October, but they were just a few miles away which was devastating and terrifying.
I absolutely love my hometown and fly back to visit my family frequently. I think there is a good chance I will end up back there some day to settle down, but for now LA is where I feel I’m meant to be.
BTW, Northern California is so different than Southern California, which I picked up on preeeetty quickly after moving down here. They really should be two seperate states, just sayin’.
9. I’m Going to Marry Someone Named Jack
My co-workers joke that I’m destined to marry someone named Jack because basically every guy in my family has that name! My grandpa, uncle, dad, and brother are all Jack (my mom’s dad and brother are Jack and she married a Jack and named their son Jack!). So if you know any Jack’s send them my way…
10. Reporting Live From…
In college I studied Communications with minors in Broadcasting and Journalism and wanted to be a reporter or newscaster. I wrote for the features and news section of my school newspaper and also anchored a daily newscast. In one class on the first day of class, a professor made us go around and say what we wanted to be when we “grew up”. I said the female version of Ryan Seacrest. LOL. The dream is to work in entertainment journalism. One day maybe?
I hope this was a fun read if you made it all the way through! I would love to get more personal with my readers and be able to connect with you through blogging on a deeper level. Feel free to shoot me a comment below telling me about YOU!
