While a part of me always feels a bit sad that the summer months are coming to an end, I’m quickly reminded of how much I love fall by the time the weather starts changing a bit. Granted, I live in LA and fall really just means we drop a few degrees to a breezy 70, but I’ll take it.
Not only do I love the weather and all the cozy associations that come along with fall (I love the anticipation of the holidays!), I also truly have a preference for fall fashion over the other seasons. Whether it be throwing on a loose, off the shoulder sweater with ripped jeans and booties or rocking a flowy dress with a leather jacket and scarf combo, I think fall fashion is as chic as it gets.
Maybe my adoration for fall is due to the fact that I was born in October, but who knows! (Hey, Libras!)
Since I’m really embracing #sweaterweather, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite looks from patterned sweaters to embellished booties.
Seeing Stars Sweater
Okay, I’m kind of obsessed with this star patterned sweater even though it’s not something I would normally be drawn to. I was with my mom when I bought it (from TJ MAXX, our favorite!), and she was perplexed that I was so adamant about buying it, noting that she didn’t think it would be something I would wear. I have talked about how my style has evolved throughout the years on my blog before, and this sweater is a prime example of that. I’m starting to naturally branch out of my comfort zone when it comes to patterns, colors, and embellishments, and I’m finding that I prefer items that are bit more unique.
The best part about this sweater, in terms of fall, is that it is so comfortable, soft, and warm. In fact, when I shot this look in early September, it was a bit too warm to be wearing it (thanks, LA!). I also like how long it is, as it can be paired with jeans, leggings, and a variety of shoe heights.
Burnt Orange and Deep Burgundy
These two colors instantly come to mind when I think of fall, and I think the season should have an exclusivity on them. I mean, burnt orange doesn’t exactly scream “summer”, does it? I love playing up the colors of fall that surround me during this time of year, from falling leaves lining the streets of Melrose Place to gorgeous sunsets encapsulating the Hollywood Hills. Los Angeles really is stunning during this time of year, and I’m taking a lot of outfit inspiration from the scenery.
Honestly, I don’t think there is anything more chic than a leather jacket. I love that it gives off that cool, edgy vibe, but is also versatile and can be mixed and matched with a variety of outfits, shapes, and colors. Give me a leather jacket, ankle boots, and ripped jeans and you’ve created the perfect fall look. Tip: drape the jacket over your shoulders Kim K. style and get some major posh points.
