One of my favorite parts of living in LA has to be how diverse and expansive it is. From Downtown to Santa Monica, Beverly Hills to Malibu, and West Hollywood to Culver City there is so much to do and see, and each area is so different from the next. One moment you’re surrounded by skyscrapers in the Arts District and the next you could be in a quaint, trendy coffee shop on Melrose Place. All totally different, but all equally enchanting.
Lately, one of my favorite places to visit is Downtown LA, which is somewhere I don’t necessarily need to be on a regular basis, but I enjoy exploring from time to time. There is so many cool, historical buildings, shops, restaurants, streets, etc. all jammed packed into bustling sub-divisions, such as the Jewelry, Fashion, and Arts Districts. Recently, some friends and I walked around the Jewelry District and I felt like I was in New York City. It truly felt like I had transported to a completely different place, far away from the beach towns and chic streets I’m used to.
We spent some time in Clifton’s, a quirky restaurant of sorts with multiple levels. Inside you will find food, drinks, shopping, old-timey artwork and trinkets. Once inside, I felt like I was stepping into a different place and time. I love places that can do that and pull you away from reality. There is definitely an air of old-school class that I can’t help but fall in love with when exposed to. Maybe I was meant to grow up in the 50’s?
I really enjoy walking around, people watching, and absorbing the atmosphere of all the sensory elements that a city like LA provides. I’m always on the hunt for new areas to check out!
